Introduction
Greener Bloomfield holds public meetings on the last Thursday of each month (except November and December). Meetings will usually start with introductions, then feature a particular topical discussion with a guest speaker, and then will include some workgroup time for projects we’ve identified.

At our meeting on Thursday, July 30, at 7:00 pm, we met at the Bloomfield College Library’s Reading Room on the first floor. We went over preparations for August 15 Project Porchlight door-to-door campaign, planning for September Anti-Idling Month, and an update on Sustainable Jersey actions.
At our regular Greener Bloomfield meeting on Thursday, June 25, 7pm, at the Bloomfield Civic Center, 84 Broad St., we worked on a few Sustainable Jersey initiatives, particularly an Anti-Idling campaign. We can use your help! We also discussed the Project Porchlight CFL distribution on August 15, and the possibility of doing a Community Outreach Film/Discussion series.
On Thursday, May 28, we had a screening of “The Story of Stuff”, a 20-minute, fast-paced, fact-filled look at the underside of our production and consumption patterns. The discussion afterwards was lively, and most went away with plans to make changes related to acquiring and getting rid of stuff!
On Thursday, April 30, we did final preparation for the Bloomfield Green Fest May 2, got an update on our Sustainable Jersey action plans, and had updates from attendees on green projects in Bloomfield.
On Thursday, March 26, 2009, we got an update on planning for the May 2 Earth Day Green Fest. We broke out into groups to begin to strategize for how we’ll approach the actions that we’ll pursue for Sustainable Jersey certification.
On Thursday, February 26, 2009, Greener Bloomfield met at 7:00 pm at the Bloomfield Civic Center. We discussed that day’s launch of the Sustainable Jersey certification program for towns going green, we continued our Earth Day 2009 planning, and we heard about Bloomfield’s biofuel field trip to Westwood.
Our second Greener Bloomfield meeting was held on TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 2009, at 7:00 pm at the Bloomfield Civic Center (postponed from Jan. 28 due to weather). We discussed the new Sustainable Jersey certification program for towns going green and Earth Day 2009 planning, .
Our first public meeting was held on Thursday, November 6, 2008, at the Civic Center. About 30 people participated with introductions, some information about Greener Bloomfield and our intended direction, and breakout groups to do Greenstorming on ideas for greener homes, schools, and local government/businesses.
