On Sunday, April 28, join Greener Bloomfield at Brookside Park from 11-1:30 as we offer lots of information about plastics, composting, wetlands, etc. Will have our river clean up (always a fav), book readings for kids, free tree sapling (bare root) give aways. And more.
Join Greener Bloomfield at our second public compost demo workshop lead by lauded environmental educator Virginia Lamb. The 90-minute experience will leave you enamored of composting and the wonders it offers. This is the final compost demo offered under the $10,000 food waste grant funded by Sustainable Jersey and PSEG. From 10:30 – Noon at the Bloomfield College Library. Saturday, Nov. 3, from 10 -1 Greener Bloomfield is sponsoring a special 3-hour compost intensive being lead by award-winning environmental educator Virginia Lamb. There is limited seating and interested parties must fill out an application in order to be included. This free event is made possible by a generous grant from PSEG and Sustainable Jersey. River Clean Up, Invasive Species removal, Butterfly/caterpillar raising info, watershed discussions, compost demo (mark our Compost Map), tree sapling freebies, workshop on using recylables as planters, and more. Joining in the day will be the Open Space Trust Fund and Pulaski Park Community Garden committees, the Environmental Commission, the Recycling Committee and the Passaic Valley Sewerage River Restoration group. Light refreshments; bring your water bottle to fill up; wear appropriate clothing. Shout out to the assistance of the DPW and the Recreation Department. No rain date.
Join the two-hour ongoing information resource expo on composting: How, when, where, what. Jan. 20 from 2-4 at the Civic Center, 84 Broad. Some handouts, and displays on composters sold by the town. Activities for children and light refreshments. Java Compost will be joining in to offer his services for anything from start -up to full service composting including at apartment buildings.
