TD Bank Green Streets Grant 2016


Bloomfield received a $20,000 TD Green Streets grant in early March.  The Arbor Day Foundation administered the grant funded by TD Bank.

TD Bank supports innovative practices in community forestry through its Green Streets grant program, which is focuses on the regreening of low and moderate income neighborhoods.  Bloomfield was one of 10 recipients in 2016. Other awardees are: Bethlehem, PA; Camden, NJ; Hollywood, FL; Miami, FL; New Haven, CT; Newburgh, NY; Providence, RI; Rock Hill, SC and Worcester, MA.

Greener Bloomfield partnered with the town forester, Steve Schuckman, to complete this project.  Forty trees were planted in total on Newark Avenue and Ampere Parkway.

An American elm tree was planted on the Green on Arbor day as part of this grant. The tree is Dutch elm disease-resistant variety.
