Our next Greener Bloomfield meeting is on Thursday, August 27, at 7:00 pm, in the Bloomfield College Library’s Reading Room. We will discuss Project Porchlight, Harvest Fest, September Anti-Idling Month, update on Sustainable Jersey actions.
Thirty-five volunteers spread out across Bloomfield on August 15 in sweltering heat, delivering free energy-efficient compact fluorescent bulbs to 1,650 households as part of a Project Porchlight blitz. That many bulbs will result in $50,000 in energy savings, 544.5 tons CO2 emissions prevented of entering the environment, and 94 cars removed from the road in the form of Green House Gases(GHG)!
By a 4 to 3 vote, Bloomfield’s town council voted down a contoversial proposal to reduce open space funding in the towns 2009 budget. (See EcoRealty.)

YES, we are having the Green Fest today! Celebrate and learn about sustainable living, working, and community at the Bloomfield Green Fest on Saturday, May 2, 2009, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Brookside Park. This event continues Earth Day festivities locally.
