First Green Fest a Huge Success
The first Bloomfield Green Fest was by all accounts a huge success. At Green Fest, held during Bloomfield’s annual Harvest Fest on September 20-21, 2008, about 1,000 people visited the 26 exhibitors, all local non-profit organizations and businesses focused on sustainability, to learn about recycling, composting, home energy efficiency audits and remodeling, and green products for home and personal use.
Sponsored by Greener Bloomfield and the Bloomfield Recycling Committee, Green Fest met its intent to bring people together to raise awareness of sustainability and give people practical ideas for how they can “go green”. A steady stream of visitors came to the “oasis” in front of the Bloomfield Public Library throughout both days. The “smart car” from Mercedes Benz positioned at the entrance to Green Fest helped draw people in on Sunday. Check back soon for a full list of exhibitors with contact information.
